King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Directed by Guy Ritchie.

Starring: Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Jude Law, Eric Bana and more.

arthur

A story of Arthur and his journey to become a legendary King of Camelot.

The movie is visually beautiful. The scenes are amazing. Also, the music is really good and it highlights the climate created by Guy Ritchie. The story itself is ok. The first part of the movie is much better than the second one. But still, I would consider it as a really good one. I enjoyed it and for sure I will re-watch it one day.

Assasin’s Creed

Directed by: Justin Kurzel

Starring: Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons

I am not a games fan, so I cannot review this movie by comparing it to the game. It’s just about the movie. Thanks to special technology Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences memories of his ancestor in 15th Century Spain. He has to find the hidden object. So it’s typical quest movie. Despite great actors ( Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons) it was boring. The plot is simple, and the action and fighting scenes do not attract attention. I am sure that I will forget about the movie soon.

The only positive aspect for me is the fact that  I know Malta where movie was shot, so funny thing for me was discovering locations.

The King’s Speech

The movie based on true story of King George VI of the United Kingdom and his lifelong struggle to overcome his speech impediment. His wife hires an Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue in order to help him.

The movie tells a story about a friendship between the King and Lionel and historical events of that time. It was really pleasant to see it. Colin Firth was amazing as King George – you can really see how great actor he is. Really worth see it.

The Fate of the Furious

Directed by: F. Gary Gray

Starring: Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron and much more.

It is the new adventures of Dom and his crew. This time Dom is being blackmailed by Cipher (Charlize Theron) to turn against his friends.

I wasn’t expecting much from this movie and still, I was disappointed. Ok, there was a lot of action, cars, and chases. But there was missing something. I liked more or less previous installments of the serie, but this movie is, in my opinion, the worst one. The plot is boring and there is a lot of poor dialogues. Even great cast does not help this movie.

I am really disappointed with this movie.

Kon Tiki

Directed by: Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg

Starring: Pål Sverre Hagen, Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Gustaf Skarsgård.

kon tiki

The movie based on true story.

The movie tells a story of explorer Thor Heyerdal, and his journey to prove that it was possible for South Americans to settle in Polynesia in pre-Columbian times.

I was very skeptical about this movie. And to be honest it was a challenge to watch it to the end. The story itself is interesting, but I couldn’t feel the atmosphere of the adventure (and it is listed as an adventure movie). Overall I am glad that I saw it because I learnt something new (and as far as I read the film is credible in history).

The movie directed by Henry Selick and based on the book by Neil Gaiman.
It’s a story of a girl who moved to new home. Her parents are busy and don’t have a time for her. One night Coraline finds magic door that leads her to the parallel world where her Other Parents create a perfect home. Soon Coraline discovers that the magic world is a trap.
I must admit that the animation is amazing. Every character looks awesome and has so many details. I am wondering how can I describe the movie and horror for kids come to mind. It was nice to watch.

The story of Eliza Doolittle, poor flower girl, and Henry Higgins, rich phonetics professor. Professor Higgins agrees to teach Eliza how to speak correctly in English. Both will have benefits of it: Eliza should find a better job, and professor Higgins will win a bet.

One of the cinematic classics. The story is very simple but well written. Great acting, great music, and great choreography. I liked it, but to be honest I was bored sometimes.

Spiderman – Homecoming

Starring: Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr and more.

Peter Parker as a teenager tries to balance his life as a Spiderman with life of high school student. He finds a new threat and tries to inform Tony Stark about it with no results. Peter decides to take it on his own.

Another movie in Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in my opinion the best Spiderman movie so far. Also one of the bests in the whole MCU.
A lot of action and humor. Great acting performance. Big bravo goes, especially to Tom Holland. Showing Peter Parker as a teenager added freshness to the movie.
Also, the Vulture is one of the bests villains in MCU. The character is well written and shown. And Michael Keaton was a great choice for this role.

Overall good job! I really enjoyed the movie.

Be kind rewind

Directed by: Michel Gondry

Written by: Michel Gondry

Starring: Jack Black, Jasiin Bey, Dany Glover, Mia Farrow and more

All movies in a rental store are accidentally erased. In order to stay in business and do not let the owner down, store clerks decide to shoot movies by themselves. Their versions of the movies are hit! Scenes, where they’re trying to shoot their own versions of big hits, are hilarious. When clerks find out that building is in danger, they decide to shoot their own movie.

The movie is funny and warm. Main characters seem to be authentic. I am happy that I found this movie and watched it. I can strongly recommend it.
