🎬 The Review β€” 21 Jump Street (2012)

Let’s get something straight: nobody asked for a movie remake of a forgotten 80s cop TV show starring Channing Tatum β€” a man previously best known for having cheekbones you could slice cheese on β€” and Jonah Hill. Nobody saw it coming. Nobody thought it would work. And yet here we are, over a decade later, and 21 Jump Street remains one of the funniest films of the 21st century. How is it even real?

The plot, if you can call it that with a straight face: two spectacularly incompetent cops β€” Schmidt (Hill), a nervous wreck with a heart of gold and the coordination of a labrador puppy, and Jenko (Tatum), a beautiful idiot who coasted through life on his jawline β€” are sent undercover to a high school to bust a drug ring. What follows is a masterclass in everything going wrong in exactly the right way.

The genius of the film is that it’s completely self-aware without being smug about it. It knows it’s a dumb premise. It says so, loudly, through Ice Cube’s perpetually furious captain who is also somehow a comedic treasure. And then it absolutely commits to that dumb premise and executes it with more craft and timing than most “serious” films manage. The gag where they accidentally swap their cover identities and Jenko β€” the thick one β€” ends up in AP Chemistry while Schmidt has to navigate the social hellscape of popularity? Chef’s kiss.

But here’s the thing that catches you off guard: there’s genuine heart in this movie. The friendship between Schmidt and Jenko β€” the nerd and the jock who somehow find each other across the great divide of high school trauma β€” is actually sweet. You root for them. You shouldn’t, given that they are catastrophically bad at their jobs and cause an almost criminal amount of property damage, but you do.

Channing Tatum, it turns out, is extraordinarily funny. This was the film that unlocked something. Jonah Hill gives it everything he has. Together they have the kind of chemistry that can’t be manufactured, directed, or written β€” it either exists or it doesn’t, and here it blazes.

A movie this stupid has no business being this good. And yet.

Score: 9/10 β€” Dumb, loud, chaotic, and secretly kind of brilliant. Much like high school itself.

In the early 60s, CIA and KGB join their forces to stop a mysterious organization from making a nuclear bomb.

The movie is amazing. It has everything that good movie should have: a lot of humour, great dialogues, and sudden plot twists.
I heard that it is more like a “Bond” movie, that recent Bonds, and I totally agree!
One of the best movies I have recently seen.

I did not watch this movie as soon as it was screened, but much later. So firstly I watched a bunch of other movies from MCU and then decided to go back and watch the missing one.
Comparing it to other MCU movies, I could see that it was one of the weakest movies of their production. A lot of flaws made this movie boring.
I feel like this movie had a lot of potentials, but failed to deliver. Still, I do not regret watching it.

Spotlight

Directed by: Tom McCarthy

Starring: Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber,Β John Slattery and more.

A movie based on facts. The story of Boston Globe reporters working on a story about pedophile abuse in Catholic Church.

Tom McCarthy decided to show really difficult matter, and what he did was great. Everything in the movie is outstanding – acting performance, the way true events were shown and production. Bows to Michael Keaton and Mark Ruffalo for their outstanding performance. Bows to Tom McCarthy for great directing.

The movie is well produced and it kept me interested to the very end.

I would definitely recommend it.

Salt

Directed by: Β Phillip Noyce

Starring: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Daniel Olbrychski and more

Evelyn Salt is a highly respected CIA agent. She has to run away when a Russian spy claims she is asleep agent about to kill the President of Russia.

A lot of plot twists with great cast should create a great movie, but for me, it was only quite good. The acting performance was really good, however, aΒ lot of scenes is so unrealistic that it was almost hurting me. One may say that action movies do not have to be that realistic, but it should be at least convincing.

The plot twist itself is really interesting and it has potential to become a great movie.

I don’t regret that I saw this movie, and despite the negatives, I would recommend it.

Assasin’s Creed

Directed by:Β Justin Kurzel

Starring: Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons

I am not a games fan, so I cannot review this movie by comparing it to the game. It’s just about the movie. Thanks to special technology Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences memories of his ancestor in 15th Century Spain. He has to find the hidden object. So it’s typical quest movie. Despite great actors ( Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons) it was boring.Β The plot is simple, and the action and fighting scenes do not attract attention. I am sure that I will forget about the movie soon.

The only positive aspect for me is the fact thatΒ  I know Malta where movie was shot, so funny thing for me was discovering locations.

The movie based on true story of King George VI of the United Kingdom and his lifelong struggle to overcome his speech impediment. His wife hires an Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue in order to help him.

The movie tells a story about a friendship between the King and Lionel and historical events of that time. It was really pleasant to see it. Colin Firth was amazing as King George – you can really see how great actor he is. Really worth see it.

The Fate of the Furious

Directed by:Β F. Gary Gray

Starring:Β Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron and much more.

It is the new adventures of Dom and his crew. This time Dom is being blackmailed by Cipher (Charlize Theron) to turn against his friends.

I wasn’t expecting much from this movie and still, I was disappointed. Ok, there was a lot of action, cars, and chases. But there was missing something. I liked more or less previous installments of the serie, but this movie is, in my opinion, the worst one. The plot is boring and there is a lot of poor dialogues. Even great cast does not help this movie.

I am really disappointed with this movie.

The movie based on true story.

The movie tells a story of explorer Thor Heyerdal, and his journey to prove that it was possible for South Americans to settle in Polynesia in pre-Columbian times.

I was very skeptical about this movie. And to be honest it was a challenge to watch it to the end. The story itself is interesting, but I couldn’t feel the atmosphere of the adventure (and it is listed as an adventure movie). Overall I am glad that I saw it because I learnt something new (and as far as I read the film is credible in history).

It’s a story of a girl who moved to new home. Her parents are busy and don’t have a time for her. One night Coraline finds magic door that leads her to the parallel world where her Other Parents create a perfect home. Soon Coraline discovers that the magic world is a trap.
I must admit that the animation is amazing. Every character looks awesome and has so many details.Β I am wondering how can I describe the movie and horror for kids come to mind. It was nice to watch.
